Install Guide
What happens, how long it takes, and what’s normal
Plan on about 30–60 minutes the first time, most of it a one-time download that runs on its own. After that, BogeyHunter opens in seconds.
The first launch is the slow one, and it’s supposed to be: BogeyHunter downloads its AI models, then tunes them to your graphics card. Your fans may spin up and the window may sit on one step for a few minutes. That’s normal. Please don’t close it.
Before You Start
- Check your PC against the requirements: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), an NVIDIA RTX graphics card with 8 GB or more of video memory, and NVIDIA driver 580 or newer.
- Free up about 25 GB of disk space, plus room for your swing videos. An SSD is best.
- Use a good internet connection for the first launch. You’ll download about 12.5 GB once. You don’t need internet after that.
- Plug the laptop in and turn off sleep for the first hour. A laptop on battery may slow its graphics card down.
- You don’t need to plug in your cameras yet. The setup wizard walks you through them after install.
1. Run the Installer
Double-click BogeyHunter-Setup.exe and follow the prompts. It installs for your Windows user account only, so it doesn’t need administrator rights.
- How long: a minute or two.
- If the installer warns about your graphics card or driver, read the message. An old driver is fine to fix after installing; a card that isn’t an NVIDIA RTX with 8 GB of video memory won’t run BogeyHunter.
- If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”: check that the publisher is And Beyond Apps, LLC, then choose More info → Run anyway. Windows sometimes shows this for newly released apps. If the publisher shows anything else, don’t run it, and contact us.
2. First Launch: Graphics Card Check
BogeyHunter checks your graphics card and driver first. This takes a few seconds.
- If your NVIDIA driver is too old, you’ll see Get the latest NVIDIA driver. Update the driver, then choose Check again.
3. First Launch: One-Time Download
BogeyHunter shows “BogeyHunter needs to download its AI models and components” with the download size. Choose Download.
- How long: it depends on your connection. 12.5 GB takes roughly 15–20 minutes at 100 Mbps, and 35–45 minutes at 50 Mbps.
- You can pause it. Choose Pause, and Resume later; progress is kept. If your connection drops, choose Try again and it picks up where it left off.
- Every file is checked against a fingerprint after it downloads, so a bad download can’t sneak through.
4. First Launch: Setting Up (the Quiet Part)
After the download, BogeyHunter shows “Preparing Coach Mulligan…” and then “Starting BogeyHunter…” with a list of its parts.
- How long: about 3–5 minutes, once.
- What’s happening: BogeyHunter tunes its swing-tracking model to your specific graphics card. It works the card hard while it does this.
- What’s normal: loud fans, high GPU use in Task Manager, and one item (pose tracking) staying on “starting” for several minutes while the others say “ready.”
- What isn’t normal: a red error with Try again. If you see one, choose Open logs, then Try again, and if it happens again contact us with the logs.
Your 30-day free trial starts on this first launch.
5. Allow Camera and Microphone Access
If Windows privacy settings block camera or microphone access, BogeyHunter shows a banner with a button that opens the right Windows setting. Turn on access for desktop apps, then come back.
6. Run the Setup Wizard
The setup wizard walks you through creating your golfer profile, placing your cameras, calibrating your lenses and setting your hit zone. See How It Works for what comes next.
Every Launch After That
BogeyHunter is ready in about 15 seconds. The one-time steps above don’t repeat.
- Expect the tuning step again (a few minutes) only after a BogeyHunter update or a move to a different graphics card.
- Close BogeyHunter with the window’s close button. If it ever crashes or you end it in Task Manager, just start it again; it cleans up after itself.
Uninstalling
Use Settings → Apps → Installed apps → BogeyHunter → Uninstall. You’ll be asked whether to delete your BogeyHunter data. Choose No to keep your golfers, swings and settings; reinstalling picks them up again. Choose Yes to remove everything, including the downloaded AI models.
Still stuck?
Most first-launch problems come from an old NVIDIA driver, low disk space or a dropped connection, and each has a Try again button. If that doesn’t fix it, contact us and include the logs (Open logs on the error screen).
